9 Ways To Organize A Makeup Bag.
Keeping a makeup bag organized not only makes it look nice, but it helps make finding things easier too. There is more to organizing a makeup bag than just keeping it clean and tidy, however; you have to know what to bring and what not to bring. If you pack too much into your bag, not only will it get (filled with messy piles of things) and disorganized easily, but you also risk damaging the things inside it.
Below, are the brilliant 9 ways to organize makeup bag tricks that will save your hands and products from ever being smeared again.
1. Clearing Out Your Bag
Empty your bag. Spread a towel out on your counter so that it doesn’t get dirty. You can use an old sweatshirt or shirt instead of a towel. Open up your makeup bag, then dump everything out onto the towel.
If the bag is dirty inside, you should wipe it down with disinfecting wipes.
If you can’t get the bag clean, think about/believe getting a smaller makeup bag with nylon, plastic, or vinyl lining.
2. When in doubt, throw it out
Mascara should be replaced every two to three months, even if you’ve only used it a few times. “Now is a great time to throw out the old one and swap in a new one.”
Don’t remember when you (bought something for money) any product? Give it a sniff — if it doesn’t smell right to you, chances are it’s had its day. And if it’s something you haven’t used in six months, you’re probably not going to use it at all, so get rid of it. A good rule of thumb for everything in your clothing, though it’s easier said than done.
3. Lighten your load
You don’t need an extra compact mirror if your reddish color (in the cheeks) or palette has a mirror in it. Let your products do double duty.
4. Carry brushes
You completely and totally need brushes. It’s super dirty to use your fingers to apply makeup to your face. Mini-brushes don’t take up space and can save you from a bacteria-caused breakout or two.
5. Toss the lipsticks
You don’t need to lug 4 or 5 lipsticks with you. Just bring 1 colored lip ointment, 1 lipstick in a go-to color, and if you want to have added/more colors, bring a few lip pencils or crayons.
6. Give your skin a break
Toss the (easy book/basic reading), foundation, hideer, and powder in favor of one product: a hideer pen. Use the (easy book/basic reading) in the AM to keep your makeup lasting and stick to touch-ups once you’re already out.
7. Make sure nothing is expired
Smell it-seriously! If powder looks (bad or has undesirable colors), the cream has bubbles, or mascara smells straight up musky-throw it straight into the garbage.
8. Look to the 3-in-1s
Instead of having 3 separate products, find a palette with colors that are right for you. You can’t go wrong with a palette that includes a reddish color (in the cheeks), an outline, and a highlighter.
9. Put some makeup-remover wipes in your bag
This way, if something spills, you can get to it quickly and reduce staining. Instead of choosing a standard=sized pack, however, pick up a travel-sized pack instead.
You can find these in drug stores and beauty supply stores.
